Digital technology such as the Internet of Things (IoT) is driving change in agriculture. So, what is IoT and what does it mean for farmers? Information generated by IoT devices enable farmers to track farm operations and performance, make better informed decisions to improve farm productivity and yields and respond more quickly to their conditions, therefore, saving time and money. It’s putting the data behind the all-important farmer gut instinct. We’ll discuss the opportunities IoT can enable that help place farmers like you at the forefront of the digital agriculture revolution.

Bio: Jeff Poppel, TELUS Business Solutions Agriculture
Jeff grew up on a mixed farm in southwest Manitoba. His career in agriculture began at Bayer CropScience as a Business Development Representative. In 2016, Jeff joined Farmers Edge and moved into the digital agricultural space, eventually becoming the Vice President of Global Client Success. In late 2021, Jeff leveraged his knowledge of data and agriculture digitization at TELUS Business Solutions where he currently serves as a Senior Product Manager. At TELUS Business, Jeff focuses on bringing data-driven products and solutions to market that help overcome some of the challenges that farmers and ranchers face today – Jeff believes that enabling technology will further improve efficiency and productivity. Jeff currently resides in Miniota, Manitoba with his family, where he coaches hockey in the winter and baseball in the summer with his three boys. When he’s not chasing a sports team, he enjoys golfing and camping.
