Does VRT fertilizer provide a Return on Investment?
Variable Rate Technology has been around for quite some time now. Adoption rates are still relatively low. Many factors influence adoption rate however a key component for any investment is the ability to generate a return on said investment. Based on an economic model, using a whole farm approach, we can explore what level of variability in a field is required to at least break even for the investment.

After completing his B.Sc degree in Agricultural Business Management in the Netherlands, he participated in the Young Farmers Exchange Program and landed in Alberta. From working on the farm in his early years he has owned his own farm, represented farmers in provincial and national industry bodies and worked as a Farm Management Consultant in the private and public sector.
In his current position as the Manager Smart Ag Applied Research at OCCI all past experiences are contributing to the variety of different projects implemented on the Olds College Smart Farm.
