Working Together to Build the Future of Ag Tech

Jason Lenz, AgSmart Industry Advisory Group (Moderator)

Cam Cote, Intelirain Inc.

Cam has focused his 30-year career in fluid dynamics on several new product innovations. He has been granted multiple patents on both air flow and fluid dynamics on innovative products that have been launched in many markets. He now combines his quest for water conservation with his vision for advancements in fluid dynamics in the creation of the InteliRain Irrigation system. He has recently received an ATB Innovation Award and a Canada 150 Award for this revolutionary approach to turf and agricultural irrigation. Cam has also dedicated 30 years to coaching youth sports.

Karen Schuett, Livestock Water Recycling

As CEO of Livestock Water Recycling, the global leader of digitized manure treatment technology, Karen oversees the integration between LWR’s overall corporate strategy and the focus on innovation. Karen has brought her message of lagoon-free protein production to the international market as she works with her team to digitize wastewater, recycle clean water, and create a waste-to-worth value proposition for global food producers. Karen was named one of the six most influential women in Canadian Agriculture for her vision of sustainable protein production. Karen was also selected to join the inaugural Google for Startups Accelerator for Women Founders, and was named as one of Canada’s Clean 50 in 2020.

LWR was named one of the Top Agtech Companies by Successful Farming magazine and was selected for the global FoodTech 500 as the highest ranking Canadian ag/foodtech company, claiming the 31st spot globally. In 2023, LWR was validated by VERRA to issue methane avoidance credits through the LWR First Wave system deployment. In 2024 that validation project was named one of Canada’s top 25 Clean Projects. In late 2023 LWR won the Global Impact Award Water Category for their impact on the economy and environment of the ag industry.

Paul Thiel, Olds College of Agriculture & Technology

Paul is an accomplished agri-business executive with over 35 years of experience in the Life Sciences industry. He held numerous roles in development and regulatory sciences with increasing responsibilities working within Canada, the North America region and globally. Paul retired from Bayer Crop Science in November, 2019. He also sat on several committees including Agriculture & Food Council in Alberta, technical committees within CropLife Canada, the Board of the Canola Council of Canada and STEC within the FIS.
Currently, Paul is working with Olds College as the Thought Leader for Olds College.
Paul graduated from the Ontario Agricultural College at the University of Guelph majoring in Crop Science and CEDEP in Fontainbleau France.
